In many cases, not only stresses but other design criteria are very important to maintain proper equipment operation and safety of the personnel. Proper sealing at high pressures was very important for this process equipment. Detailed modeling of all structural components effecting the gasket contact pressure was an essential part of this project. Hydraulic actuator loads and the number of locking devices were optimized to provide safe and efficient equipment operation.
