Power plant turbine replacement project. The new turbine’s discharge nozzle had a different location and shape than the old turbine; however the turbine-to-condenser steam duct could not be relocated and the space was very limited. This resulted in a very unfavorable pressure vessel shape subject to external pressure. Design Analysis Services was asked for help in the structural design of the new steam duct. The new equipment was placed successfully in service and on budget.
